Obtaining a Premise ID

To purchase 840 tags you must first obtain a premise ID number. A national premises identification number (PIN) is a unique number, permanently assigned by the USDA to a ranch's physical address (where the animals are located). Most states utilize the USDA-APHIS provided Standardized Premises Identification System and a PIN must be obtained from the state's animal health department. A PIN consists of seven alphanumeric characters, beginning with two leading zeros.

To find contact information for the agency in your state where you can get your premise ID, please begin by selecting the state where your ranch is located.
